Privacy notice

EtchMotion is local-first. This notice separates data stored by the Windows app from data handled by the website, Gumroad and optional services.

Last updated 12 August 2026

1. Who is responsible

The legal seller identified on the Legal overview is responsible for support correspondence and product-related personal data it receives. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to info@etchmotionstudio.com.

2. Data kept on your computer

Imported images, masks, generation documents, project metadata, attached audio, narration and rendered videos are stored locally. EtchMotion has no EtchMotion account, cloud rendering, advertising identifier, built-in analytics or automatic crash reporting. A Gumroad licence key is required for first activation. Uninstalling does not remove project folders by default.

3. Activation and optional network features

First activation sends the Gumroad product ID and licence key directly to Gumroad's verification service. Gumroad returns purchase status and an activation-use count. EtchMotion stores the key and proof locally using Windows encrypted storage; it does not send images, projects or renders during activation. Routine launches work offline after activation.

Wikimedia search sends the query you type to Wikimedia and selected media may be downloaded from its servers. A Codex, Claude, Ollama or other agent you choose is a separate product governed by its own terms. The bundled MCP bridge exchanges commands, source metadata and job information locally; it does not itself upload project files.

4. Website hosting and logs

This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. To deliver and secure the website, STRATO may process technical request data such as IP address, requested file, date and time, browser, operating system, referrer and transferred data. STRATO states that log and temporary-storage periods commonly range from a few days up to 60–90 days depending on operational or security needs.

This website build does not intentionally set advertising cookies or run visitor analytics. Processing needed to deliver and secure the website is based on the legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure service. Read STRATO's privacy notice for its own processing.

5. Support email

If you email support, the seller receives your email address, message, order details you provide and any diagnostic files you choose to attach. This is used to answer the request, perform the contract, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Do not send source media or secrets unless needed.

6. Gumroad

Gumroad separately processes checkout, payment, delivery, tax and receipt information as merchant of record. Its own privacy notice applies. EtchMotion receives the purchaser and transaction information Gumroad makes available to suppliers for fulfilment, support, fraud prevention and accounting.

7. Retention and rights

Local projects remain until you remove them. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed for support, disputes and legal obligations. Transaction records may be retained for statutory accounting periods. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability by emailing support. You may complain to your competent data-protection authority, including the Dutch Data Protection Authority where applicable.
